Small Lego Technic Sets Under 300 Pieces

by Last Updated: Dec 3, 2020All Legos

I have handpicked a few of the smallest Lego Technic sets that contain less than 300 pieces. You can read brief reviews of them in this comparison article below. I have selected sets mostly from the years 2017 and 2016. To be honest, I’m not very interested in small Technic sets, as I’m older and prefer bigger models (if you are looking to shop for larger sets, check out my other article: Lego Technic sets for adults). However, smaller Lego Technic models are good for beginners or younger kids (or in case you have kids in the age 2-5 y/o, check my other article: Lego Duplo sets). So, here we go:

Lego Technic 42061 Telehandler

Lego Technic 42061 Telehandler

This is the first small set on my Lego Technic sets list. It is a set from 2017 and it contains 260 pieces. The pieces are of the red, black and gray color. The model weights 1.3 pounds (590 grams) and its dimensions are 14 x 2.8 x 7.5 in (35.6 x 7 x 19 cm). It is ideal for children of the age of 9 years old and older. It is a very nice small construction Lego model.

Lego Technic 42057 Ultralight Helicopter

This is another older small Lego Technic set released in 2017. The model features spinning rotors, engine with moving pistons and cockip with detailed seat. The set contains 199 parts which are of the white, black and red colors. The dimensions of this model are 9″ (25 cm) long, 7″ (18 cm) wide and 4″ (12 cm) high. The alternative model that can be built with this set is an Experimental Aircraft.

Lego Technic 42047 Police Interceptor

Further down on my list, this police car model is another set ideal for younger kids or Lego Technic beginners. It is a set from 2016 and it features a pull-back motor. Other features of this model include wide rims with low profile tires and warning beacons of a police car. It contains 185 pieces out of which most are of the lime-green and white color. The dimensions of this model are 5″ (15 cm) long , 3″ (9 cm) high and and 3″ (9 cm) wide. The B model that you can build with this set is an Extreme Police Racer.

Lego Technic 42059 Stunt Truck

The fourth one on my list is a small track with a pull-back motor. It is a new set from 2017. The features of this model are rims with low profile tires and front bumper. The set contains a buildable stunt ramp as well. The dimensions of this stunt truck Lego are 7″ (18 cm) long, 3″ (8 cm) high and 3″ (9 cm) wide. The ramp is 4 inches (12 cm) wide. The B model of this set is a Power Racer.

Lego Technic 42090 Getaway Truck

Small Lego Technic Set

This small Lego monster truck model features huge chunky tires, pull-back motor and heavy-duty front bumper. This Lego set was released in 2019. It can be combined with the 42091 Police Pursuit set. It contains 128 pieces and the dimensions of this model are 7″ (12 cm) long, 2″ (7 cm) high and 3″ (10 cm) wide. I personally really like this set and would consider buying it for my kids.

Lego Technic 42101 Dune Buggy

The last one on my list is a small racing buggy. This Lego model features working steering and suspension. Small Lego Technic sets like this one help develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills of your children. This particular model is a 2020 Lego Technic set. It can be rebuilt into a B model, which is a racing car. The dune buggy measures 5″ (13 cm) long, 2″ (7 cm) high and 2″ (7 cm) wide.

So this is my list. Which one of these sets would be your choice? I would personally choose probably the telehandler or the stunt truck. What I like about the stunt truck is that it has the pull-back motor and it could be fun playing with it using the ramp, too. And what I like about the telehandler is the expandable boom. Overall, I would say that each one of these small Lego sets could make a perfect birthday gift for your kids.
